I was day dreaming the other day about the ideal storage area for my herb stuff. I ran into a number of problems. Do I sort them by:
- herb (i.e. all the chamomile preparations together)
- preparations (i.e. all the tinctures together)
- ailment (i.e. all the herbs that can treat headaches together)?
Not that it really matters much, I guess. I live in a small house with very little storage and a lot of children (9:-) so I really don't have many options.
Still it is an interesting mental exercise.
I joined Herbmentor.com last spring. I have really enjoyed it though I do feel overwhelmed occasionally. This is an herbal community that discusses and shares all their information with each other. There are "radio" programs, videos, and e-courses to do.
What I have been reading there has me about decided to take one herb and learn everything I can about it. For example, I could learn everything peppermint is ever used for, make peppermint tincture and infused oil (I've already made many peppermint infusions), lozenges, lip balms, etc. After a couple of months maybe pick another herb and do it.
Of course I have the problem that I need to care for my family right now, so I need the information I will have 10 years from now in my hands to use now.
Oh well.
